The volunteers pot luck and meeting were held from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Bella Vista Rec Center, 3 Riordan Rd, Bella Vista. Thanks to all the volunteers that brought such delicious food that was enjoyed by all.
I. Twenty-five (25) members and guests were in attendance: Ray Atkinson, Deidre Cheney, Laura Claggett, Cathy Fischer, Tim Garton, Randy Hamm, Joyce and Charlie Harp, Denise and Jim Klinger, Ling Ma, Bonnie Martineck, Nancy Ortman and Buddy Needham, George Pickell, Andy and Susan Pilkerton, Mark Richardson, Buzz Schoenhard, Jacqui and Chris Stockman, Gracie Turley, Leon Wehmeyer, and Susan and Brian Woodruff.
II. President Laura Claggett opened the meeting by mentioning the handout on the tables informing the volunteers that our Adopt A Highway litter clean-up will be held on Saturday November 2, 2024 from 9 to10 AM. BVBBS volunteers can meet at Trafalgar and 71. Vests, bags and pickers are provided. The BVBBS is responsible for 1 mile on Rt 71 from Lancashire to Trafalgar. Coffee and donuts will be provided. III. We had a record number of bluebird fledglings at 2,000 this year. Again, this year we had a problem with predators and we installed 7 foot-tall boxes at the Branchwood trail which helped keep out predators.
IV. She also reported that the Bella Vista Historical Museum has bought three dozen of our hats since June and they’ve been a big seller. Hats are also sold at The Bluebird Shed. At both locations they are $18 (and the museum & store keeps 20%.)
V. Two-year service awards were presented to Joyce and Charlie Harps and Kathy Evans; five-year service awards were presented to Kim Eveland, Julie Lanshe, and Carolyn & Clay Merritt; and ten-year service awards were presented to Ling Ma, Bonnie Martineck, Ray Matkowski and Buzz Schoenhard. Buzz has also been the Board secretary for seven years.
