Volunteers Meeting 2 March 2018

The volunteers meeting was held from 9:30 - 11:00 AM at the Presbyterian Church in Bella Vista.

I. Thirty Four (34) members were in attendance & three (3) guests:  Kathy Allen, Jerry Argetsinger, Joe & Marge Bowen, John Bozarth, Jerry Butler, Laura Claggett, Bill Davis, Jim & Gwen Janssen,  Earl Lehman, Ling Ma,  Bonnie Martineck, Ray Matkowski, Ruth Matkowski, Charlie Murray, Nancy Ortman, Glena Pickens, Bill Price, Rosalee Rainbolt, Harrison Ramey, Ron Rear, Shari Reed, Maureen Seymour, Troy Shaffer, Lorna Sterrett, Bill & Rose Theiss, Grace Turley, Katy Van Note, Carol Wallis, Dirk Webber, Leon Wehmeyer, Jim Wojahn.  Guests:  Cynthia Marshall and Ed & Claudia Shelton.

Leon Wehmeyer presided over the meeting, with help from Jim & Gwen Janssen, Lorna Sterrett and Laura Claggett.

New volunteers were introduced, and monitors who are no longer participants were mentioned.

Acknowledgements were given to Jerry Argetsinger for creating our website, and for Jerry Butler who created the nest box plans and BVBBS stamp with our logo on it.

III. Awards were presented:
5 years   Craig & Carlyn Ferguson (BVCC)
2 years   Maureen Seymour (Highlands), Troy Shafer (Oakford), Michael Syverson (Berksdale)

IV) Roster was sent via email, please let us know if your information needs any corrections.
   Monitor sheets for 2018 were distributed. Use openoffice.org if you don't have Excel.
   A Janssen slotted box to control House Sparrows was shown.  Anyone who has a sparrow problem should change out their box fronts to a slotted ones.
   Check your boxes soon, the birds have started nest building.

V.  Upcoming events:
Garden Club's Garden Party is June 8, 2018, 4-8 pm, at Simple Pleasures.  We will share a tent with The Bluebird Shed.  We need volunteers to man the tent, please contact Laura Claggett who is coordinating our participation.
The BV Community Church is having an Arts & Crafts Fair in mid June.  We need volunteers to talk to elementary age kids about bluebirds.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Leon.

VI.  Election of Officers.
There were no nominations from the floor, and the following officers were unanimously voted in:
President, Leon Wehmeyer; Vice President (OPEN), Laura Claggett acting; Treasurer, Lorna Sterrett; Secretary, Buzz Schoenhard; Trail Boss Coordinator, Ray Matkowski.
