Reports, Stamp & Logo

END OF SEASON REPORTS - Thank you for sending your end of season reports. Leon will schedule a meeting to review the year's results.  Watch your email and this site for the date and time.

BVBBS STAMP - Thank you to Jerry Butler, one of our volunteers, who created a stamp with the Bella Vista Bluebird Society on it.  Jerry and Ray Matkowski then stamped every box on the Country Club trail.  If you would like to borrow the stamp to do the boxes on your trail, contact Leon at lwehm@sbcglobal.net or 855-1642.

ARKANSAS WELCOME CENTER - The picture below shows the new box at the Hwy 71 Arkansas Welcome Center with a sign promoting the BVBBS that Ray Matkowski designed, purchased, and installed.  Thank you, Ray!

The design for our logo was created for us by Jim Crager with Embroidery Designs in Rogers.  If you would like the logo on a shirt, hat, etc.,tell him to use the Bella Vista Bluebird Society logo.  You can take in your own clothing item, and you will be charged only for the embroidery, or you can buy a hat or shirt in the store.

The address is:

EMBROIDERY DESIGNS, 1710 Acorn Street, Rogers AR. 72756, phone 479-621-5727

Directions:  Take Exit 86 off of I-49 & go east past Sams Club to Dixieland. Turn left on Dixieland and then right at the first street.

Nest Boxes Destroyed in Flood

The bad news is due to the recent flooding in Bella Vista, the BVBBS lost an estimated 50 nest boxes.  To date 133 eggs and/or chicks were lost in the destroyed boxes.

The good news is that the public and BVBBS volunteers have generously donated enough funds that we will be able to rebuild and replace those boxes.  It is still early in the nesting season, so the Bluebirds will have the opportunity to fledge chicks this year in the new boxes.

Public Meeting Notice

The Bella Vista Bluebird Society will host its annual meeting for the public on Thursday, May 11, at 10:00 AM.

It will be held in the Community Room at Mercy Clinic, 1 Mercy Way (near Cooper Elementary School.) As you come into the main entrance to the clinic, the Community Room is directly to your right.

The meeting is open to the public and refreshments will be served. This is a good opportunity to learn more about attracting & enjoying Bluebirds.

Contact Leon Wehmeyer at 855-1642, lwehm@sbcglobal.net, if you have questions.

Hope to see you there.

Website Meeting

Five members, including president, Leon Wehmeyer and web master, Jerry Argetsinger, met to discuss the purpose, goals, architecture and ongoing responsibilities of maintaining our site – bvbluebirds.com.  Leon will be sending a note to all members to encourage them to use the site and suggest any additions that may be needed.

Time to Start Monitoring

We are starting to see completed nests so it’s time for all monitors, including Bella Vistans who have home and/or neighborhood boxes, to start checking and recording the status their boxes.  The early eggs reported on Feb. 6th at Dogwood never hatched.

Feb 16 Membership Meeting

A membership meeting was held at 9:00 AM at Mercy Clinic Community room, February 16, 2017. Forty Four (44) members attended.  The minutes for the meeting can be found HERE
