Thank You T.H. Roger & Lowes

T.H. Rogers & Lowes has donate over $3,000 to BVBBS for materials used to make bluebird nest boxes.  The materials includes cedar lumber, fence posts, PVC pipe, screws and wire.  In addition to these most generous businesses, other local businesses we partner with are The Bluebird Shed, who sells our boxes; Embroidery Design, who created our logo; and the North American Bluebird Society, who provides educational materials.

2018 Statistics

The count for this season's bluebirds have been compiled and can be viewed on our BVBBS Statistics page.

Bluebird Season Ending

The nesting season for this year's bluebirds is just about over, and the Bella Vista Bluebird Society needs your backyard counts for birds that have fledged. Please report not only bluebirds, but any species that has fledged in your yard or trail.  Please call your totals in to Leon Wehmeyer at 479-855-1642 or e-mail to lwehm@sbcglobal.net. Thanks for being a backyard bluebirder and for sharing your results.

Kits for Kids

Thanks to members of the BVBBS, a "kids box kit" project in June at the Bella Vista Community Church was a big success. Children and adult helpers enjoyed a presentation about bluebirds and the assembly of the nest boxes.  Equal numbers of girls and boys ages 9 and 10 participated (16 children.)  The children all took pride in the assembling of the boxes.  BVBBS Board member Ray Matkowski said he thinks it left a lasting impression on the children--many of whom could possibly become future "bluebirders!"  Thanks again to Troy Shaffer for his box plan and building skills in creating the kits, and to Buzz and Larry Schoenhard for the box directions.

Bluebirds Still Fledging

Thanks to Lynn Atkins, The Weekly Vista, ran an article about us on May 23rd.  You can view it here.

Hope to see you there.

Thank You

A thank you letter has been mailed to the POA golf course and park managers to thank them for their continuing support of the BVBBS.  Those locations are important places to install & maintain our bluebird boxes, bringing ecological benefits, beauty and pleasure to our community.  Thank you also to all the BVBBS members for all their work in maintaining and monitoringing the nest box.  We look forward to a productive year working together.

The Bluebird Shed

The Bluebird Shed, at 648 W. Lancashire Blvd in Bella Vista, is now selling BVBBS nest boxes.
